Bubble Tea

Probably the only chippy in Sussex with a proper bubble tea bar.

What is it, exactly?

Bubble tea started in Taiwan in the 1980s: proper brewed tea, shaken with milk or fruit, poured over chewy tapioca pearls you drink through a fat straw. The “bubbles” are the pearls, sweet, bouncy, faintly caramel, and once you’ve had them, ordinary drinks feel like they’re missing something.

Our range

Milk teas

Original, salted cheese, brown sugar, taro, matcha or vanilla, tapioca pearls included. From £4.00.

Fruit teas

Lychee, apple, passion fruit, peach, strawberry, grape, mango, pineapple or watermelon, one topping included. From £3.60.

Thai teas & matcha

Thai milk, cheese Thai, Thai lychee and Thai coffee latte (large only, £4.80), plus strawberry, mango or cheese matcha.

The toppings

Sixty pence buys you an extra layer: classic tapioca pearls, jellies (lychee or mango), or popping balls, thin-skinned spheres of apple, lychee, strawberry, peach, yoghurt, mango or passion fruit that burst when you bite them. First-timer? Brown sugar milk tea with pearls. Trust us.

Every drink is shaken to order at the counter, the perfect thing to hold while your fish fries.
