Our story
Hey, we’re Alex and Lilly. Thirty-odd years in kitchens between us, and Big Fish is where it all ended up: a Sussex chippy on one side of the counter, a sushi bar on the other.
Come for the cod and chips, stay for the Korean fried chicken, and when you’re feeling curious, let us roll you some sushi. It all comes off the same counter.

Cooked when you order, not before
Our sushi is rolled when you order it, our chicken is fried the Korean way, and our fish and chips are exactly what a Sussex chippy should be. For parties and events we make large sushi platters, give us an hour’s notice for the big celebration sets.
Where Korea meets Japan (in Sussex)
Our menu doesn’t keep its cuisines in separate boxes, because we don’t either. The sushi bar works Japanese, sashimi, nigiri, hand-rolled maki, but it borrows Korean fire wherever it makes things better: gochujang through a volcano roll, bulgogi beef in a bento, kimchi we ferment ourselves beside katsu curry.
That’s the “fusion” on the sign: Japanese precision, Korean boldness, British comfort, bibimbap next to battered cod, bubble tea next to a pot of mushy peas. It shouldn’t work. It really does.
